A horse's natural foot has evolved so that the frog/entire underside of the hoof has full contact with the ground when landing. Traditional shoes elevate the frog and prevent ground contact which loads all the weight onto the hoof wall. The ProPad has been designed with flexible frog support that fills the void between frog and ground for shod horses.
The flexible frog support made of polyurethane extends the frog and works as a shock absorber. It unloads the hoof wall which improves circulation in the hoof, thus mimicking the natural action of a barefoot.
ProPads unique accordion-like design allows the frog support to follow all movements of the frog without causing pressure at rest. Approximately 60% of the recoil shock that occurs when landing is absorbed by the frog as it acts like an airbag. ProPads allow the horse to have a barefoot motion when shod which improves circulation, reduces injuries and supports collateral cartilages.
They can be cut and used as a rim pad with added frog support, or lift intact for sole protection and/or use with packing material.
